“Ebony and Ivory,” my first segmented pen, was made using leftover pieces from the dial board on my walnut mantel clock. The pen is a maple base (standing in for ivory, since that’s rather difficult to come by these days) with thin strips of ebony running through the center. Black slimline hardware compliments the ebony. As a unique touch, the bushing that separates the two halves of the pen is turned from ebony, replacing the metal ring that is included in the hardware kit. Being my first segmented pen, I’m a little attached to this one, and have kept it for personal use.
